The New Orleans Saints have waived Romeus

The New Orleans Saints have waived/injured defensive end Greg Romeus and signed linebacker Donavan Robinson. Romeus was drafted in the seventh round last year and missed his entire rookie season recovering from a right knee injury suffered as a senior at Pitt. He then tore his left anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament during an organized team activity and underwent surgery.

A 6-foot-3, 250-pounder, Robinson entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Jackson State and signed with the New York Jets in May.

Prior to entering the NFL, he started 31 games at Jackson State, finishing his college career with 181 tackles and 30 sacks.

As a senior, he was a Football Championship Subdivision honorable mention All-American and second team all-SWAC selection after recording 58 tackles, 23 1/2 tackles for a loss, 16 sacks, four pass defenses and one fumble recovery.
