Biography:
AS AN NFL HEAD COACH: Has coached 239 regular-season games over 15 seasons for the New York Giants (1983-90), New England Patriots (1993-96) and New York Jets (1997-99). Has 138-100-1 record, plus 11-6 in the postseason.

Parcells coached the Giants for their only two Super Bowl victories, in 1987 and 1991. Also took the Patriots to the Super Bowl in 1997.

BEFORE THE NFL: Played at Colgate and Wichita State. Began his coaching career as a defensive assistant at Hastings College in Nebraska in 1964, then went on to jobs at Wichita State, Army, Florida State, Vanderbilt and Texas Tech. First head coaching job was at Air Force in 1978.

NFL ASSISTANT: First NFL job was as a Giants assistant in 1979, though he quit a month after taking the job. Went to the Patriots as an assistant in 1980, then was the Giants defensive coordinator 1981-82.
