The Chargers signed Jeremy Newberry as a free agent on June 2, 2008. Newberry agreed to a one-year deal.
Newberry spent the first nine years of his career (1998-2006) with the San Francisco 49ers, earning Pro Bowl invites in 2001 and 2002.
He joined the Oakland Raiders in 2007, started 14 games at center.
