Ben Leber was selected by the Chargers in the 3rd round of the 2002 NFL Draft, 71st overall.
Scouting Report
Chargers Insider staff had Leber tabbed as a early 4th round pick. Very athletic with good size and speed. Anticipates the action and does not bite on play action passes or get caught out of position. Effective covering runners out of the backfield. Holds his ground against blocks and finds his way to the ballcarrier. Squares into his tackles and wraps up. Should create more of an impact and make more plays in pass coverage. Sometimes slow in slipping through gaps.
NFL
2002
Leber has been one of the starting linebackers since coming onto the scene. He won the job from Orlando Ruff in the preseason and has not looked back.
College
He was a team captain and a three-year starter at Kansas State.He finished his career with 216 tackles, 13.5 sacks and 46 tackles for loss. Leber also deflected 11 passes and caused three fumbles while recovering another. |
