| The Chargers acquired Billy Volek in exchange for a conditional sixth-round pick in a trade with the Titans on Sept. 19, 2006. San Diego inherited the four-year deal Volek signed with the Titans on March 25, 2004.

Earned a three-year $9 million contract extension on Feb. 29, 2008 with a $3 million signing bonus. Appeared in five games with three out of 10 completed passes good for 6 yards.

Volek spent weeks one and two in Tennessee. After being traded to San Diego, he spent weeks 3-5 as the No. 3 quarterback. He was then promoted to No. 2 and saw action when Philip Rivers was hurt in week 17, completing one of two passes for four yards.
Career
A former undrafted free agent, Volek blossomed into one of the top backup quarterbacks in the league during his six years in Tennessee.
His numbers during his career with the Titans include 313 completions on 519 attempts (60.3 percent), 3,505 passing yards, 26 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He started 10 games while in Tennessee, eight of them in 2004. |
