Born Troy Edwards in Shreveport, La…all-Louisiana, all-District, All-City, Shreveport Times Most Valuable Player and team MVP as a running back at Huntington (Shreveport, La.) High...set city single-season record with 32 touchdowns and rushed 199 times for 1,689 yards (8.5 avg.), leading the school to its first-ever playoff appearance. Acquired 8/30/02 in trade with Pittsburgh for sixth-round draft choice in 2004 NFL Draft…played three seasons for Steelers (1999-2001)…originally a first round draft selection (13th overall) in 1999 NFL Draft. 2001: Finished with 19 receptions for 283 yards…led Steelers with 462 kickoff return yards on 20 kickoff returns for a 23.1-yard average, including a long of 81 yards...returned 10 punts for 83 yards, an 8.3-yard average...caught one pass for 17 yards at Jacksonville 9/9…performed superbly on special teams at Tennessee 11/25, nearly broke one kickoff for a TD, returning it 81 yards…totaled 145 yards on three kickoff returns for 48.3-yard average…caught two passes for 25 yards at Cincinnati 12/30…displayed versatility and big-play ability in AFC Championship game vs. New England 1/27…caught two passes for 16 yards…also returned three punts for 9.7-yard average…returned five kickoffs for 86 yards, a 17.2-yard average. 2000: Finished season with 18 receptions for 215 yards…also returned 15 kickoffs for 298 yards, for a 19.9 average... led the team in receptions at N.Y.
