Biography:
How Acquired: Signed July 26, 2006 as an unrestricted free agent after being released by the New Orleans Saints.

2006: Played in 15 games and started 14 of them – he was suspended the first game of the season by coach Brad Childress for an incident that happened during the preseason. He finished the season with 98 tackles (66 solo), four interceptions, four tackles for a loss, eight passes defensed, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one sack. His 98 tackles were second on the team. He tied for the team lead with four interceptions. Had his best game of the year Dec. 21 vs. the Packers, notching 11 tackles and a forced fumble. Had two interceptions vs. the Cardinals Nov. 26 and returned one of the interceptions for a game-clinching touchdown.

2005: Signed a free-agent contract with the New Orleans Saints in March. Started 15 games – 12 at strong safety and three at free safety. His 86 tackles were tops among defensive backs and fourth on the team. He also added two interceptions and the first sack of his NFL career. Had 11 tackles vs. Miami Oct. 30 and 10 tackles vs. the Vikings Sept. 25.

2004: In his final season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he started all 16 games at strong safety. Was fifth on the team with 104 tackles – his career high. Had a career-best 14 tackles vs. Carolina Dec. 26 and had three interceptions during the season. Led the Bucs with four forced fumbles.

2003: Started all 16 games – nine at free safety, six at cornerback and one at strong safety. Had 85 tackles and led the team with five interceptions.

2002: Played in all 16 games, making two starts on a Bucs team that won Super Bowl XXXVIII. Started in the Super Bowl, opening the game lined up as a nickel back. Had 29 tackles and four interceptions during the regular season and three interceptions during the postseason, including interception returns of 44 and 50 yards for touchdowns in the Super Bowl.

2001: Drafted by the Buccaneers in the third round with the 84th overall selection. Played in 15 games and led the team with 22 special teams tackles. Returned 16 kickoffs for a 22.2-yard average.

College: Played four years for Akron and was named Mid-America Conference Defensive Player of the Year as a senior, tying for the NCAA Division I lead with 10 interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns. He finished his career with 163 tackles, 15 interceptions, six forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. Was named First-Team All-America by several sources as a senior and was a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, given annually to the top defensive back in college football.
