Mike Scifres was chosen by the San Diego Chargers in the fifth round of the 2003 NFL Draft, 144th overall. Signed a four-year extension on Nov. 3, 2005.
2006
Punted 69 times with a 38.2-yard net average and a career-low two touchbacks. Named a first-alternate for the Pro Bowl.
2005
Punted a career-high 71 times with a 38-yard net average and only eight touchbacks. Was named a second-alternate for the Pro Bowl.
2004
Took over as the full-time punter. Punted 69 times with a 38.4 net average and only eight touchbacks. Was named first-alternate for the Pro Bowl.
2003
Used as a kickoff specialist, as Darren Bennett was the starting punter. Kicked off 25 times with a 62.7-yard average.
College
A long distance punter out of Western Illinois who can also handle kickoff duties. In 2002, he averaged over 48 yards per punt with a long of 75.
Scifres also attempted five field goals in his career, going 2-5 with a long of 56 yards.
In 2002, 44 of his 91 kickoffs went for touchbacks. |
