Continued to progress in sophomore season. His five interceptions led the team, while his 86 tackles ranked fourth. Returned two interceptions for touchdowns both of which won games in overtime. The game winners came in back-to-back weeks against the 49ers (10/28) and Browns (11/4). Unanimous all-Rookie selection in 2000. Chicago’s only rookie to start all 16 games in 2000. Led Bears secondary with 102 total tackles, becoming just the seventh Bears rookie since 1974 to record over 100 tackles in a season. First Bears rookie since 1993 to record a defensive touchdown with 35-yard interception return for a touchdown vs New Orleans (10/8).

Three-year starter who became just third player in Nebraska Cornhusker history to lead team in tackles for three straight years. Second leading tackler in school annals (Jerry Murtaugh 1968-70). Ranks ninth in Nebraska history with nine interceptions. Spectacular senior campaign saw him rewarded with several accolades including: first-team all-America selection by Associated Press and Football Writers Association, unanimous all-Big Twelve first-team pick and academic all-American. Started every game as a senior, leading Huskers with 96 tackles while adding two sacks, eight TFLs, five interceptions, five passes defended, one fumble recovery and six forced fumbles. Named to all-Big Twelve first-team as a junior and All-Big Twelve second-team as a sophomore. As a junior, set Nebraska single-season record for tackles by a defensive back with a career-high 102. Career-high 19 tackles vs Texas during junior campaign stands as the Huskers’ second-most single-game tackle total since 1971. Moved from left corner to rover in pre-season of sophomore season before leading team with 77 tackles, including four TFLs. Played cornerback as freshman before playing both safety positions in final three seasons. |
