Eric Parker was signed to a one-year deal by the Chargers as a free agent on July 23, 2002. He originally signed with the Houston Texans as a rookie free agent on April 25, 2002. He was released by the Texans on July 13 before signing with the Chargers.
Scouting Report
Chargers Insider staff had Parker tabbed as a potential free agent pickup. Effectively uses his body to shield away opponents, adjusts well to the errant throw and looks the pass in. Times and anticipates his receptions nicely, exposing himself to make the difficult catch in traffic. Lets the ball get inside him and tends to double-catch or bobble too many passes. Poor route runner who lacks the deep speed.
College
His career totals included 64 receptions for 829 yards (12.9 avg.) and three touchdowns. He also returned 107 punts for 930 yards (8.7 avg.) and one score.
