Vernon Fox was signed as an undrafted free agent April 23rd, 2002 from Fresno State.
Scouting Report
Chargers Insider staff tabbed Fox as a undrafted signee. Fox is a tough run defending safety with terrible size and disappointing speed numbers. Quick reading and anticipating the action. Does not possess the pure cover skills to be moved to corner and not big enough for a safety. Is a bit slow and can get beat deep.
NFL
Has played well in the absence of an injured Rodney Harrison during his rookie campaign (2002). Is a hard hitter who excels in stopping the run and is still adjusting to pass coverage.
College
Three-year starter. Senior totals were 62tackles in thirteen games after a junior season of 68 tackles. Led the team in tackles as a redshirt sophomore with 93 when he also broke up two passes. Has only one interception to his credit in college. |
