Michael Kranzler: You were drafted by the Chargers seemingly to fill the role vacated by Michael Turner, who is now with the Atlanta Falcons. How do you feel your game compares with his?

Gartrell Johnson: We're bigger guys, 220-something pounds, just downhill runners. I would say he's more just downhill.

MK: Tell me about your performance in the New Mexico Bowl against Fresno State (285 rushing yards, 90 receiving yards, two TDs).

GJ: It's pretty much a running back's dream. Everything just hit well. It clicked with my O-linemen and it was just a big day, on the ground and receiving.

MK: When you were playing high school ball at Miami Springs, did you ever imagine you could one day be selected in the first four rounds of the NFL Draft?

GJ: It was a dream of mine all my life, since I was 9 years old, so it's always been a dream of mine. But as I got to college and played well there, it became more of a reality.

MK: Was there anything about your first Mini Camp that you weren't expecting?

GJ: I wasn't really expecting two-a-days because I kind of thought it would be a vanilla practice week, where you would practice once and then eat, but we were in meetings, then practice, then meetings, then practice, so it was hard for me to go through the first day. But after that, it was fine.

MK: Is there anything you want to say to Charger fans, or that you would like them to know about you?

GJ: I'm a dedicated player who is willing to give my all. I am going to give my all.
