Top Five Insiders Message Board Threads
Insiders talk about the impact of Shawne Merriman's knee injury in both the short- and long-term. Depending on the results of Merriman's visit with Dr. James Andrews, Merriman may not be available during the early weeks of the regular season.
More importantly, as the Chargers brace for Merriman's possible absence, all eyes are on Jyles Tucker. Can he build on his momentum from last season? More importantly, can he replace Merriman full-time if "Lights Out" bolts as a free agent after the 2009 season?
Would You Trade VJ for Anquan Boldin?
Anquan Boldin's recent demand for a trade has sparked even more curiosity from Chargers fans: Would San Diego make a play for another offensive superstar? Boldin would add another element to San Diego's offense, but his hefty asking price would only cloud an already murky financial future.
Nonetheless, the Chargers are in win-now mode and making a play for Boldin would certainly help the Chargers contend. Would a trade of Boldin for Vincent Jackson and a third-round pick in 2009 make sense for both teams?

Sproles in 2009?
Darren Sproles proved to be a lightning-in-a-bottle type player in 2007. He scored on a kickoff return and a punt return; he delivered a 122-yard rushing performance in Week 15; and he caught a crucial 56-yard TD pass against the Indianapolis Colts in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.
However, Sproles is entering the final year of his contract and may not be back in 2009. The Chargers loaded up on running backs during the draft, and the team already has a long list of candidates ready to take over for Sproles on kick returns. Is this his final year in San Diego?
Waters Looks Fluid, Shows Potential
After spending his rookie season effectively red-shirting, Anthony Waters hit the off-season with a vengeance. However, a minor knee injury knocked him out of the running to take Stephen Cooper's starting job in Weeks 1-4.
Although relegated to a backup role, Waters has caught the attention of Chargers coaches and fans alike. What kind of impact can he make in 2008? What will this mean for the futures of Brandon Siler and Tim Dobbins?
