Do the Chargers need help at cornerback? It's among the offseason questions the front office is…
Marques Harris and Cletis Gordon Sign Tenders
In three seasons, Harris has tallied 53 tackles and 5.5 sacks. His most famous sack was the first of his career, when he took down Eli Manning to the delight of the Qualcomm faithful.
"(Harris) has got some of the best athleticism I've ever seen," said Wes Meier, who coached Harris at Southern Utah. "He's got great strength and great speed."
Cletis Gordon carved out a spot in the defensive rotation last season after playing only sporadically on special teams in 2006. Gordon finished the 2007 campaign with 16 tackles and two pass breakups.
Gordon expects an increased role in 2008 due to the free-agent defection of Drayton Florence. Gordon will compete with Paul Oliver for the vacant nickel back job, assuming San Diego doesn't tab a cornerback with its first-round pick.
Gordon also has value as a kick returner. He returned two kickoffs for 55 yards as a rookie and could compete for more time in that capacity next season.
