Darran Sproles to IR; Raymond Walls released

The San Diego Chargers placed running back/returner Darren Sproles on injured reserve with a fractured fibula. He will miss the entire 2006 season. The Bolts also released cornerback Raymond Walls.

Sproles, the Chargers' fourth-round choice in 2005, ranked sixth in the NFL with 1,528 kickoff return yards. It was the third-highest single-season total in team history. Sproles added 108 yards as a punt returner and his 1,636 combined yards for the season went down as the second-highest total in team history.

A fifth-round choice (152) by Indianapolis, April 22, 2001, Walls was signed by the Chargers in April with an eye on adding depth to the secondary and on special teams.
