Opting for noted orthopedist Dr. James Andrews to perfrom surgery on his torn labrum, the Chargers issued a press release that called the surgery on Drew Brees a success.

The following is the press release issued by the Chargers:

San Diego Chargers quarterback Drew Brees underwent successful arthroscopic surgery this afternoon in Birmingham, Alabama to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. The surgery was done by Dr. James Andrews. Brees will return to San Diego next week and immediately begin an aggressive rehabilitation program on the road to a full recovery. He is expected to begin throwing in four months and be ready to participate in training camp.

“Though his recovery period is longer than we had hoped for, we couldn’t be happier that Drew is expected to make a full recovery,” said General Manager A.J. Smith.
