Wes Sims becomes the second Chargers' draft pick to sign, agreeing to a three-year deal with the club.
"He’s a guy who we think is accomplished as both a run blocker as well as a pass protector," Marty Schottenheimer said.
The Chargers selected Sims, 6-4, 317, with the 177th overall choice in the 2005 NFL Draft.
Sims, a three-year starter for the Sooners, played most of his career at tackle for Oklahoma, playing both sides of the line but will make the move inside to guard as a member of the Chargers.
He was a three year starter at left tackle, only missing time back in 2001 with a knee injury. Sims did suffer a hamstring injury while preparing the Combines in Indianapolis.
A former shot put and discus competitor, Sims has experience against some of the top competition in the country coming from a Big-12 school.
