With their sixth round selection, 177th overall, in the 2005 NFL Draft, the San Diego Chargers selected Wes Sims, an offensive guard out of Oklahoma.

The Bolts again targeted the offensive line in round six with the selection of Oklahoma offensive guard Wes Sims.

Sims played both tackle positions with the Sooners but has been tabbed to move inside with San Diego because of his strength (he set an OU testing record in 2002 with a 450-pound bench press.

He was a three year starter at left tackle, only missing time back in 2001 with a knee injury. Sims did suffer a hamstring injury while preparing the Combines in Indianapolis.

A former shot put and discus competitor, Sims has always given his all on the field, playing until the whistle blows. He has also played against a lot of the top competition in the country as a member of the Sooners.
