The San Diego Chargers have signed tight end Ryan Krause, a sixth round pick out of Nebraska-Omaha to a three year deal. Krause, 6-foot-2, played wide receiver throughout his college career but is being converted to an H-back role with the Bolts.

Ryan Krause started 41 of 42 games during his career, catching 151 passes for 2,566 yards (17.0 avg.) and 22 touchdowns. He caught 67 passes as a senior for 1,066 yards and 11 touchdowns. As a reward, he was named the most valuable receiver in the North Central Conference.
Krause had four 100-yard games as a senior and nine for his career. He also owns three of the top six best games by a receiver in school history with games of 180, 173 and 171 yards. He caught 9 passes or more in a game three times this year and had 22 career touchdown catches.
The four-year starter was a three-sport star during his prep days, also excelling in baseball and basketball.
“I will probably be the H-back,” Krause said as he has worked out exclusively during camp with tight ends Coach Tim Brewster.
Brewster has been on his case pretty hard over coaching sessions and mini-camp. It is an effort to push him as the season draws near.
“Obviously my size is suited (for tight end),” Krause added. “The only thing I have to work on is blocking.”
The three year deal is believed to be worth just over $1 million.
