Ryon Bingham, a seventh round pick out of the University of Nebraska was signed by the San Diego Chargers to an undisclosed deal.

Bingham, a 6-3 303-pound lineman is seen as a John Parrella type of player and is expected to comepete for time as the backup nose guard. It is a vital position on the team as Jamal Williams is the current starter and no backup is currently in sight.

Ryon Bingham was a two year starter on the Nebraska defensive line. He finished his career with 141 tackles, 54 solo, four sacks, 22 tackles for a loss, 14 quarterback hurries, two fumble recoveries, one forced and a blocked kick.

Bingham, a three time finalist for Lifter of the Year, bench pressed 225 pounds 33 times and has a 514-pound squat. Rumors say that Bingham was not properly used in the defensive rotation and has untapped potential. He was taken by the Chargers in the 7th round of the 2004 NFL Draft, 204th overall.

Terms of the deal were not immediately available.
