Chargers linebacker Matt Wilhelm

Just when San Diego Chargers fans thought it could not get any worse, Matt Wilhelm, a rookie linebacker out of Ohio State, was arrested for driving under the influence.

Matt Wilhelm joins a growing list of Chargers in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Earlier in the offseason, Terrence Kiel was shot in an attempted carjacking outside a Houston are mall. Leonardo Carson was arrested on burglary and kidnapping charges during leave from training camp. And most recently, Drayton Florence was sucker-punched in the Gas Lamp District of downtown San Diego.

Wilhelm, a standout with Ohio State at linebacker, has been inactive through the first two games.

A San Diego County jail operator confirmed that Wilhelm was indeed released after posting bond Monday, but could not provide further information by law. Further details of the DUI charge are still unclear at this time.
